URGENT UPDATE!
ALTHOUGH OUR COUNCIL APPROVED BILL 2491 BY 6-1
THE MAYOR CAN STILL VETO UP TO OCTOBER 31 !
WE NEED TO TELL THE MAYOR ASAP:
"PLEASE SIGN BILL 2491
INTO LAW NOW!"
It's only been one week since the Council passed Bill 2491 but sadly we cannot completely celebrate yet.
As a final step, we need to urge the Mayor to sign the bill into law NOW. He can also choose not sign the bill and let it pass into law automatically on October 31 without his signature.
His other choice is to veto the bill, and unbelievably he has publicly reserved his option to do so, against the overwhelming will of the people and the 6-1 landslide County Council vote.
So now we need to send our message LOUD AND CLEAR, and with ALOHA, telling him that he must honor the democratic process and sign Bill 2491 into law.
We must ensure that democracy is alive and defended on Kauai...and that our Mayor shows us that our children's health is his priority above all else.
